If a site is to be successful it must be accessible. This normally means being listed on search engines. You can either pay a company to submit your site or you can prepare it and submit it yourself.Self submission - the web is awash with companies trying to sell their services/products or selling their advice. Several points about preparation:

need to prepare your information contained in the head of the main index
page and the main site pages. this involves preparing the 'meta tags',
especially the site description and keywords. You also need page titles.

- You
need to keep the site up to date. Consensus is not to resubmit the site
frequently. If you however make major changes this will be worthwhile
as the site will need to be reindexed
